QW Map: After the war3 b1v2 + Scriptfix

After the war 3 ist eine sehr schön gestaltet Map und spielt viel mit den Licht- und Wettereffekten.

Hier 85.25.147.73:27733 könnt ihr die Map testen.

EXPECTED GAMEPLAY FLOW
In this map the GDF are attacking. They must infiltrate a secret Strogg facility where upgrades to the Goliath are being tested and steal the contruction plans. Because the strogg have a tight hold over this part of Europe the GDF's best hope for a secure extraction is through their naval fleet. GDF HQ has planned this mission for night-time when the foggy weather conditions can facilitate an easier extraction.

The GDF aproach the facility via a railroad tunnel to the south. They must then build a safe spot for deploying a platypus they'll use to escape with the plans. Before they can steal the plans, however, they must hack into the security computer deep behind enemy lines to cut off power to the defense turret watching over the warehouse. Once this is done, the GDF have to plant an explosive charge at the warehouse doors. Finally the GDF must take the construction plans to the awaiting platypus and sail away to the awaiting fleet standing off the coast outside of artillery range. Once the mission begins the GDF have 15 minutes to accomplish their goal, because that's the time it takes the Strogg capital ships orbiting Earth to zero in on the location and nuke the site from orbit (just to make sure).

The first objective can be accomplished at any time before the end of the map. In fact, the first objective is not strictly required to win though most teams will want to do it for the two benefits it brings: building the hut will remove the Strogg's forward spawn, shrinking their territory for deployables and remove two icarus vehicles. Secondly, while it's possible to swim with the plans all the way to the fleet, anyone that dares swim so far already deserves to win. ;)

The second objective, hacking the security computer, is supposed to lead to a hard, drawn-out fight. Although there are many ways to reach the building (and two entrances) the spot is located between the Strogg's main spawn and a capturable spawn. Beta testing will reveal if the Strogg barricade should be removed (or made blowable) to allow the GDF to bring more badger trucks into the fray more easily. GDF should try to liberate the Strogg's spawn to make them spawn at their base.

The third objective should feel like a mad dash with both teams moving parellel to each other from their respective spawns to the warehouse doors. GDF should have the advantage here unless they haven't yet built the hut, in which case the Strogg's extra territory for deployables and extra icarus may prove to be an obstacle. Btw, right now it's theoretically possible to plant the HE charge before hacking the computer (and therefore disabling the defense turret) but I've been unable to find a away. Perhaps the beta test will show if this exploit is possible when the entire GDF team moves en-masse to the warehouse doors.

The fourth objective will be available in a future beta or in the final version of the map.

***UPDATE***
This beta release features three out of the four objectives. Terrain geometry, megatexture quality, grass stuff models and warehouse building are preliminary and will change in the final version of the map. This beta is focused on, in this order:

1) Determining if there are gross balancing issues with the objectives.
2) Finding colision bugs/exploits.
3) Finding baserape situations.
4) Evaluating hard/soft cover placement.
5) Checking if more/less vehicles are needed.
6) Performance problems.

KNOWN ISSUES

* Hack objective still doesn't generate a mission/task for the GDF but I got it to generate a task for the Strogg. Please note that you still get the icon working properly on your compass/command map.
* If you do the 2nd objective before the first the 3rd objective will be started as intended however the icon for the construction of the hut will remain in the 3D hud. While a bug this might be useful to remind players they can still do the 1st obj.
* You can still put deployables in many crazy places, still working on it (does anyone know how to make g_debugmask work? It's slow progress if I have to keep toggling between game and paint shop pro and manually placing deployables).
